At a GPC meeting of Fortescue 847 Craft degree, it was approved for W.Bro. Richard Selby PPrDepGDC Provincial Senior Grand Warden for Devon, to make some continuation Honours’ boards for the Masonic Lodge Temple. It was then approved that a similar board would be donated for the new Court of King Cerdic which had recently been consecrated and meet in the same building. The Fortescue HRA Chapter were approached and asked to donate the cost of providing the artwork; the results you have all seen. At the consecration of King Cerdic one of the Burghs, Bro. Chris Henley, collected some of the corn used for the consecration and asked if it could be used in some way. An old jewel was adapted to put the corn in and is now suspended from the top of the board above the insignia of the Order. Another Cerdic member, Bro. Robert Gibbons has a graphic art business, so he was able to cut and apply the graphics from a gold, red and green vinyl.” All the work was completed just in time for the Provincial Grand Master’s first official visit to King Cerdic. W. Bro. Christopher Hallett (Secretary)
W.M. of Fortescue Craft Lodge No. 874 W.Bro. Alex A. Small, P.Pr.J.G.D. and E.Comp. Arthur F. Webster of Fortescue Chapter
The photograph showing V.W. Brian G Wright, PGSwdB, DepProvGM and the 1st Principle W.Bo. Arthur F. Webster, brought back many happy memories to both of them. Brian was being raised as a Master Mason in his Craft Lodge “The Lodge of Happiness” No.6800 at Surbiton Masonic Hall, Surrey on the 20th November 1984. This was the same day that Arthur joined the Lodge and they became good friends thereafter. Arthur resigned from the Lodge some years later when he moved down to Devon and it was not until this day by chance that the two of them met once again.
